Fattet Hummus, a beloved dish in Syrian cuisine, combines layers of crispy pita, creamy hummus, and tangy yogurt. Traditionally served as a hearty breakfast or a festive dish, it reflects the rich culinary heritage of the Levant. This dish is often enjoyed during gatherings, highlighting the importance of sharing food in Middle Eastern culture. Today, variations exist across the region, with each family adding their unique twist, making it a versatile favorite.

Cut pita bread into squares to make croutons.
Drizzle about 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the pita squares and toss to coat.
Season the pita with salt and pepper.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Spread the seasoned pita on a baking sheet and bake for about 12 minutes until browned and crispy.
In a skillet, add 1 cup of garbanzo beans and cover them with water.
Add about 1 teaspoon of ground cumin and 2-3 cloves of garlic to the skillet with the garbanzo beans.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then simmer for about 30 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt with 1 minced garlic clove, 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and finely minced fresh mint.
Mix the yogurt mixture until well combined.
Once the garbanzo beans are done, drain them and remove the garlic cloves.
Assemble the dish by layering the crispy pita at the bottom of a serving dish, followed by the garbanzo beans.
