The McRib, a seasonal offering from McDonald's, originated in the United States in the early 1980s. It features a boneless pork patty slathered in barbecue sauce, served on a bun with onions and pickles. The sandwich has developed a cult following, often celebrated for its unique flavor and nostalgic value. While it remains a staple in American fast food, variations and similar recipes have emerged globally, reflecting local tastes.

Prepare the mixture by combining 1 pound of ground pork, 3 tablespoons of water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and 3/4 teaspoon of salt in a bowl.
Wet your hands to prevent sticking, then separate the mixture into about four equal-sized chunks and form them into patties.
Place the patties between two pieces of wax paper or parchment paper and press down to flatten them. Put them in the freezer to firm up.
Prepare the grill by filling it with charcoal and lighting it with a torch, leaving some leftover charcoal from the previous cook.
Heat a cast iron pan on the grill for about 10 minutes until it's nice and hot.
Once the pan is hot, place the buns in the pan to give them a little color.
Take the frozen patties and lay them in the hot pan without any oil or butter, letting them cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
Check the color of the patties and flip them to brown evenly, ensuring they are cooked all the way through (target internal temperature is 160°F).
After cooking, let the patties cool for a couple of minutes before dipping them in barbecue sauce.
Assemble the sandwich by placing two patties on a bun, adding dill pickles and white onions on top, and then cut the sandwich in half for sharing.
