2 cups sauerkraut
4 cups cabbage, chopped
2 cups carrots, grated
1 cup onions, chopped
2 cups tomatoes, diced
1 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup vegetable oil
4 cups water

Fill a heavy cast iron pot with water.

Add washed and dried beef shank and oxtail to the pot.

Add about 10 whole peppercorns and a few bay leaves.
