Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in lemon zest and lemon juice until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Fold in vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls.
Roll each ball in sesame seeds to coat.
Place the coated balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.
Flatten each ball slightly with the palm of your hand.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
