Guinea Fowl Suya

Cultural Context

Originating from Nigeria, Suya is a popular street food traditionally made with skewered and grilled meat, often enjoyed at social gatherings. The dish is celebrated for its spicy and savory flavor, typically enhanced by a peanut-based marinade. Guinea fowl, a less common but flavorful choice, adds a unique twist to this beloved dish, which has gained popularity beyond Nigeria, inspiring variations across West Africa and beyond.
