1

Slice 1 pound of bacon into pieces using a Santoku knife.

2

Add the sliced bacon to the Instant Pot.

3

While the bacon is cooking, cut a medium onion in half, leaving the end on for easier chopping.

4

Cook the bacon until crispy, then remove and drain on a paper towel, leaving some fat in the pot.

5

Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and add the onions to the remaining bacon fat.

6

Sauté the onions for about 2-3 minutes until they become translucent, scraping up the brown bits from the bottom of the pot.

7

Add 1 pound of mild Italian sausage to the pot and break it up, cooking it through while scraping the bottom of the pot.

8

If there are still brown bits stuck, add a little water to deglaze the pot.

9

Add 1 tablespoon of Better Than Bouillon beef base to the meat mixture and stir it in.

10

Flatten the meat mixture and add 1.5 pounds of pasta on top.

11

Pour in 4 cups of water until it almost covers the pasta, then add 860 ml of marinara sauce on top without stirring.

12

Add half of the cooked bacon back into the pot on top of the sauce.

13

Lock the lid of the Instant Pot and ensure the sealing knob is set to sealing.

14

Set the Instant Pot to cook for half the time indicated on the pasta package; if the package says 10 minutes, set it for 5 minutes.
