Burgers originated in the United States, evolving from the German 'Hamburg steak' brought by immigrants. They quickly became a staple of American cuisine, symbolizing casual dining and outdoor grilling culture. Today, burgers are enjoyed worldwide, with countless variations reflecting local tastes and ingredients, from gourmet toppings to plant-based patties.

1

Divide the meat into four equal amounts.

2

Gently press each section into a round patty about ½’’ thick.

3

Season each side of the patties with salt and pepper.

4

Heat a 12-inch cast iron skillet or nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat. Melt butter in the pan.

5

When butter is melted and hot, add the patties to the pan.

6

Fry burgers until the surface is browned, about 3 minutes. Flip burger over and cook until it reaches desired doneness, about 2-5 minutes.

7

If you are adding cheese, add cheese during the last minute or two of cooking so it melts.

8

Transfer burgers to the plate and let rest for 5 minutes.

9

While burgers are resting, butter inside of buns and toast them in a frying pan.
