Ingredients

  • 2 cups grated potatoes
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. 1Peel and grate the potatoes using a box grater or food processor.
  2. 2Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
  3. 3In a mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well until combined.
  4. 4Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  5. 5Take small portions of the potato mixture and shape them into small cylindrical tots.
  6. 6Carefully place the shaped tots into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  7. 7Fry the tots for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. 8Remove the fried tots from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. 9Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp cold water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup egg whites

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  3. 3Add the egg yolk and cold water to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. 4Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into circles to fit into a muffin tin.
  5. 5Press the dough circles into the muffin tin and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  6. 6In a saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Heat over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
  7. 7Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in the egg whites until well combined.
  8. 8Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pastry shells, filling them about 3/4 full.
  9. 9Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  10. 10Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
