1

To a medium-sized mixing bowl, add 2 and 2/3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 and 1/4 teaspoons of fine sea salt, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda.

2

Whisk all of the dry ingredients together.

3

In a large bowl, add 1/3 cup of unsalted room temperature butter and 1/3 cup of canola oil.

4

Add 3/4 cup of granulated sugar to the butter and oil mixture.

5

Using a handheld mixer, mix on medium-high speed for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy.

6

Crack in two large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

7

Add 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and mix it in.

8

Add 1 and 1/4 cups of buttermilk to the mixture.

9

Alternate adding the dry ingredients with the buttermilk, starting with a third of the dry ingredients, then half of the buttermilk, then another third of the dry ingredients, the remaining half of the buttermilk, and finally the last of the dry ingredients.

10

Mix on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

11

Transfer the batter into a gallon size Ziploc bag, seal it, and twist it to create a piping bag.

12

Prepare two 12-cavity standard donut baking pans (silicone or metal).

13

Snip the end of the Ziploc bag and fill each donut cavity, being careful not to overfill.

14

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake the donuts for 8 to 10 minutes.

15

Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool on a cooling rack for about 10 minutes.

16

Turn the donuts over on the cooling rack to cool completely before adding toppings.

17

For the chocolate glaze, in a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup of milk, 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter, and 1 tablespoon of corn syrup over medium heat until the butter melts.

18

Add 1 and 1/2 cups of powdered sugar and 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, stirring until smooth.

19

Turn off the heat and add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, stirring to combine.

20

For the vanilla glaze, in a large bowl, add 3 cups of powdered sugar and drizzle in about 6 tablespoons of milk, whisking until smooth.

21

Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar if needed.

22

For cinnamon sugar, melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds.

23

In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon until evenly mixed.

24

Once the donuts are completely cooled, dip them in the chocolate glaze, vanilla glaze, or coat them in powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar as desired.
