🥗Healthier: leaner cuts of beef

💰Cheaper: pork shoulder

Pork shoulder is generally less expensive and still provides a rich flavor.

1

Welcome to the video; today we're making oven slow roasted beef brisket.

2

The brisket is about 13 pounds, but you should get a smaller one unless you plan for multiple meals.

3

Gather the ingredients: granulated garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, onion soup mix, beef bouillon, Worcestershire sauce, salt, rosemary, and vegetables (carrots, celery, onion, potatoes).

4

Prepare the brisket by seasoning it with paprika and salt, rubbing it in well.

5

Sear the brisket in a hot pan, fat side down, for about 5 minutes on each side to lock in flavors.

6

After searing, remove the brisket from the pan and sauté the vegetables (carrots, celery, onion) in the remaining fat for a few minutes.

7

Add the remaining seasonings to the sautéed vegetables and create a bed for the brisket in the pan.

8

Place the brisket back on top of the sautéed vegetables, then add Worcestershire sauce and the remaining seasonings.

9

Add about 4 cups of water (or beef broth) to the pan, ensuring the brisket is well covered.

10

Cover the pan and place it in the oven at 325°F (163°C) for about 5 to 6 hours until tender.

11

After cooking, check the brisket; it should be tender enough to easily pierce with a fork.
