Step one, make the dry rub by mixing together 1 tbsp brown sugar, 2 teaspoons ground paprika, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 0.5 teaspoon cumin powder, 1 teaspoon mustard powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon ground black pepper in a bowl.

Thoroughly mix the dry rub ingredients together.

Step two, make the barbecue sauce by adding 1.5 cups of ketchup, 0.5 cup of brown sugar, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 2 teaspoons ground black pepper, 2 tablespoons onion powder, 2 tablespoons mustard powder, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, and 0.5 cup of apple cider vinegar into the slow cooker.
