Toast almonds in a pan until golden brown.

Place a non-stick pot over medium heat.

Add 3/4 cup vegetable oil, 1 cup fine semolina, and 1 cup coarse semolina to the pot.

Add 3 cups brown sugar, 4 cups water, zest of 3 oranges, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves to the pot.

Stir for another 10 minutes until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the bottom of the pan.

Add the toasted almonds to the mixture and press it into a 20 cm cake pan.

Let it sit for 5 minutes before turning it out onto a platter.
