Originating from Switzerland, Hörnli-Rösti is a comforting dish that combines the beloved rösti with the flavors of gruyère cheese and bacon. Traditionally enjoyed as a hearty meal, it reflects the Swiss love for potatoes and cheese. Today, variations can be found across Europe, often featuring different cheeses or additional vegetables.
Boil 300 g pasta in salted water for 5 to 7 minutes depending on the type.
Chop 200 g ham into pieces.
Grate 500 g zucchini coarsely.
Drain the pasta and set aside in a non-stick frying pan.
Heat butter in the frying pan.
Add the chopped ham and sauté for about 3 minutes.
Add the grated zucchini to the ham and season with salt and pepper.
Cook for 5 minutes, allowing the liquid to evaporate.
Add the drained pasta, cheese, and chopped parsley to the zucchini mixture and mix well.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs with salt and pepper.
Pour the egg mixture over the pasta and zucchini mixture, ensuring it is evenly coated.
Cover and cook for about 20 minutes until set.
After 20 minutes, carefully loosen the edges and invert onto a large plate.
Return the pan to the heat and cook for about 10 more minutes until golden brown.
Serve with salad.
