Torta Hrapoćuša

Cultural Context

Hrapoćuša is a traditional cake from the Dalmatia region of Croatia, often associated with local celebrations and family gatherings. Its name is derived from the word 'hrapav', meaning 'rough', referring to the cake's textured surface created by the walnuts. This delightful dessert showcases the region's rich agricultural heritage, particularly the use of nuts and citrus. Today, Hrapoćuša is enjoyed not only in Croatia but has also gained popularity among those exploring Croatian cuisine around the world.
