Traditionally, these sweet rolls are made with a rich, spiced dough that reflects the Nordic love for cardamom and cinnamon. They are often served during special occasions and gatherings, symbolizing warmth and hospitality. Today, variations of these buns are popular worldwide, with many adding unique fillings or glazes to suit different tastes.

Start off with two cups of self rising flour.
Add 1/4 cup of coconut oil (or substitute with almond milk or mashed ripened banana for oil-free).
Add 3/4 cup of plant based milk and mix until it forms a ball.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it’s a quarter inch thick.
Cover the surface evenly with brown sugar (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup).
Lightly sprinkle the surface with cinnamon and cardamom (about 1.5 tbsp each).
Tightly roll up the dough and pinch the edges to secure it.
Cut your rolls about 1.5 to 2 inches thick using string or floss.
Place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Bake in the oven at 425°F for 8 to 10 minutes.
For frosting, take 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and add drops of water until desired consistency is reached.
Drizzle the frosting over the rolls and enjoy.
