Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mashed bananas
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup water (as needed)
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. 1In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, mashed bananas, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cardamom powder.
  2. 2Gradually add water to the mixture to form a smooth batter. The batter should be thick enough to hold its shape.
  3. 3Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  4. 4Once the oil is hot, take small portions of the batter and drop them into the hot oil carefully.
  5. 5Fry the bondas until they are golden brown on all sides, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  6. 6Remove the bondas from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. 7Serve hot as a snack or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup split yellow lentils (dal)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. 1Soak the split yellow lentils in water for 4-5 hours or overnight.
  2. 2Drain the soaked lentils and grind them coarsely in a food processor without adding water.
  3. 3In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lentils, chopped onions, cilantro, green chilies, ginger paste, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  4. 4Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  5. 5Take a small portion of the lentil mixture and shape it into a round patty or vada.
  6. 6Carefully drop the vada into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. 7Remove the vadas from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. 8Repeat the process with the remaining mixture.
  9. 9Serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice.
