Warm milk to room temperature and add 7 grams of dry yeast to activate.
In a bowl, mix 500 grams of bread flour, 60 grams of sugar, and half a teaspoon of salt.
Add the activated yeast mixture, melted 100 grams of butter, and 1 egg to the flour mixture and mix well.
Cover the dough and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Prepare the topping by melting 160 grams of butter, 250 grams of very dark brown sugar, and 4 tablespoons of double cream together with half a stick of vanilla until well combined.
After the dough has risen, oil a 35 cm by 25 cm baking pan and press the dough into the pan.
Cover the dough and let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.
Make holes in the dough with wet fingers and pour the topping over the dough.
Bake in a preheated oven at 215°C for 18 minutes.
