These savory pastries symbolize hospitality and community, as they are frequently shared among family and friends. In modern times, sambusas have gained popularity globally, with various fillings and adaptations reflecting local tastes.

Sauté chopped onions in oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes until slightly brown.
Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and most of the water evaporates.
Add ground beef and break it apart; cook until fully cooked through, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Stir in chopped green chilies, Hawaiian spice mix, and salt; mix well.
Prepare sambusa wrappers by cutting a 60° angle on one side.
Place a couple teaspoons of filling on the angled side of the sambusa in an equilateral triangle shape.
Fold the dough over to form a triangle, ensuring the meat is tightly wrapped inside.
Trim off excess dough or tuck it under the fold to seal.
Wet the edges with water or a water-flour mixture if necessary to help seal.
Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat until hot.
Gently place sambusas in the oil and cook, turning until golden brown, about 5 to 10 minutes.
Remove from oil and serve hot.
