Guyanese Butter Flaps

3 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 TBS butter
1 packet dry active yeast
2 TBS sugar
1 cup Luke warm water
2 sticks of salted butter

In a mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all purpose flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 packet of dry active yeast, and 2 TBS sugar.

Add 1 cup of lukewarm water to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise until doubled in size.

Once risen, roll out the dough and spread 1 TBS of butter on top.

Fold the dough to create layers and shape it as desired.

Place the shaped dough on a baking tray and let it rise again briefly.

Bake in a preheated oven at 340 degrees for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Brush with 2 sticks of salted butter after baking and let cool.
