Cultural Context

Mabuyu, a refreshing drink originating from the East African coastal region, is made from the pulp of the baobab fruit, known locally as 'monkey bread.' Traditionally enjoyed during hot weather, it is often sweetened and spiced to enhance its flavor. This drink is not only a staple in Swahili culture but has also gained popularity beyond its borders, with variations emerging in other African countries and even in global markets, celebrated for its unique taste and nutritional benefits.
