Magic Cookie Bars, often known as Seven Layer Bars or Hello Dolly Bars, originated in the United States and have become a beloved treat for their rich layers of flavor and texture. They are a staple at potlucks and parties, celebrated for their ease of preparation and delightful combination of chocolate, coconut, and nuts. Today, variations abound, with many bakers adding their unique twists to this classic recipe.
sweetened condensed milk

Place 2 cups of honey graham cracker crumbs into a large bowl.
Add 1/4 cup of white granulated sugar to the bowl.
Melt 1/3 cup of butter and add it to the mixture.
Sprinkle in a little ground nutmeg and toss everything together with a spatula.
Prepare a 13 by 9 inch pan by spraying the sides with non-stick cooking spray and lining the bottom with parchment paper.
Transfer the crumb mixture into the pan and spread it evenly to the sides.
Use your hands to press the crumbs into the bottom of the pan to form a firm crust.
Sprinkle 1 cup of dark chocolate chips evenly over the crust, reserving the remaining 1/2 cup for later.
Pour about 10 oz of sweetened condensed milk in a stream across the bottom, covering the crust.
Sprinkle 2 cups of sweetened coconut flakes evenly over the condensed milk.
Add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans on top of the coconut flakes.
Finish by sprinkling the remaining 1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips over the top.
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Bake the bars in the oven until the top turns a nice golden brown color.
Once out of the oven, let the bars cool completely before cutting them into portions.
Use a sharp knife to cut the bars across the pan.
Gently scoop the bars out of the pan using a spatula and plate them.
