Thinly slice 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts. If using thick breasts, pound them flat.

Wash and pat the chicken dry.

In a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup plain bread crumbs, and 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.

In another bowl, beat 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of water.

Sprinkle one side of the chicken with salt, ground black pepper, and garlic powder. Turn the chicken over and sprinkle the other side with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Coat the chicken completely in the flour, shaking off the excess.

Mix the bread crumbs and cheese together. Dip the chicken in the egg, letting the excess drip off, then coat the chicken in the breadcrumb and cheese mixture, pressing to ensure full coating.

Heat a stainless steel pan and add enough olive oil to coat the bottom.

When the oil is hot, add the chicken and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden brown. If the chicken sticks, slowly scrape it off the pan.

Stir in 1/2 cup of whole milk and simmer for another 2 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper if needed. If the sauce is sour, add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.
