Select a tall pot that can hold the pears standing up.
Pour 1 bottle of red wine into the pot.
Add approximately 150 g of sugar to the wine, which is about 50-60 g per pear.
Add the peel of half an orange, ensuring to avoid the white part.
Add 3 star anise and some cinnamon sticks to the mixture.
Mix the ingredients slightly to dissolve the sugar and heat over medium-low until it starts to simmer.
While waiting for the wine to heat, peel the pears, leaving the stems intact.
Once the wine is simmering, lower the heat and add the pears, ensuring they are standing up.
Cook the pears for approximately 15 minutes, turning them every 5 minutes for even cooking.
After 15 minutes, turn off the heat and let the pears rest in the syrup for another 15 minutes.
Remove the pears and place them on a plate to cool.
In a separate pan, take a ladle of the wine syrup and heat it to reduce until it thickens slightly.
Once the syrup has reached the desired consistency, turn off the heat.
Serve one pear on a plate and drizzle the thickened syrup over it.
