1

Spread 3 tablespoons of sugar in the bottom of a 7x4x3 inch loaf pan and heat it until it starts to melt, without stirring.

2

Once the sugar has melted, pour the hot caramel into the bottom of the loaf pan and spread it evenly.

3

Add raisins on top of the caramelized sugar in the bottom of the pan and set aside.

4

Slice the leftover loaf bread into cubes and set aside.

5

In a bowl, beat 2 large eggs until the egg whites and yolks are well combined.

6

Add 1 can (370 ml) of evaporated milk to the beaten eggs and mix until well combined.

7

Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence and continue mixing until all liquid ingredients are combined.

8

Add the cubed loaf bread to the egg mixture and mix until the bread is well coated.

9

Set the mixture aside to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.

10

Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and flatten it down.

11

Cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil and place it in a steamer.

12

Steam the bread pudding for about 30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.

13

Once the toothpick comes out clean, remove the bread pudding from the steamer and let it cool before unmolding onto a platter.
