Welcome to the kitchen; introducing the marinade recipe.
Gather ingredients: 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup fresh lime juice, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons canola oil, 3 tablespoons minced garlic, 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 1/4 cup freshly chopped cilantro.
Mix all ingredients into a zip top plastic bag or airtight container.
Add soy sauce, canola oil, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped cilantro, and lime juice into the bag.
Use tongs to squeeze lime juice into the bag, approximately two limes worth.
Pinch the bottom of the bag to mix ingredients together.
Add flank steak into the bag with the marinade.
Zip up the bag, ensuring to remove all air for better marination.
Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or up to 24 hours.
Preheat oven broiler and prepare a broiler pan with cooking spray.
Place the marinated steak on the broiler pan and put it in the oven, about 6 inches from the broiler.
Cook for about 7 minutes, then flip the steak and cook for another 5 minutes.
Check the steak temperature with an instant-read thermometer aiming for 135°F.
Let the steak rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
Preheat grill to high heat (400 to 450°F).
Grill the marinated steak for 5 to 7 minutes on each side.
Check the temperature after 13 minutes on the grill, ensuring it is cooked to preference.
Let the grilled steak rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
Slice the steak against the grain for serving.
