Start by preparing the marinade in a gallon bag.
Add 1/2 cup of olive oil to the bag.
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of kosher salt to the bag.
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of black pepper to the bag.
Add 1/4 cup of brown sugar to the bag.
Add Worcestershire sauce to the bag for flavor and acid.
Add 5 cloves of roughly minced garlic to the bag.
Add 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes for heat.
Add 2-3 sprigs of fresh rosemary, rubbing it between your fingers to release the oils.
Zip the bag closed and massage it well to combine the marinade ingredients.
Place the flank steak in the marinade and ensure it is well coated.
Let the flank steak marinate for at least 2 hours, or up to 24 hours for best results.
Preheat the grill using charcoal to high temperature for direct heat.
Grill the marinated flank steak until cooked to your liking, checking for doneness.
Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
Slice the steak against the grain to shorten the long muscle strands.
