This dish encapsulates the essence of Italian cooking—simple, hearty, and full of flavor. Often served at family gatherings, it showcases the versatility of pasta and cheese, making it a beloved comfort food. Today, variations abound globally, with many adding different fillings or sauces to suit personal tastes.

Cook ground beef in a skillet until mostly cooked, then add chopped bell peppers and onions; cook until meat is thoroughly cooked.
In a mixing bowl, combine one package of cream cheese, half a cup of sour cream, and seasonings of your choice; mix until smooth.
Add a handful of Italian four cheese blend to the cream cheese mixture and mix well.
Once the meat is cooked, add two cans of tomato sauce, one can of canned tomatoes, and one small can of tomato paste; season to taste and add bay leaves.
Mix in a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture and some fresh basil into the meat sauce.
Spread a little tomato sauce on the bottom of the baking dish to prevent sticking.
Take a lasagna noodle, spread the cream cheese mixture across it, then add a little meat sauce; roll it up tightly and place seam-side down in the baking dish.
Repeat with remaining noodles and filling until all are rolled and placed in the dish.
Spread the remaining cream cheese mixture on top of the rolled noodles, followed by the four cheese blend and more meat sauce.
Top with additional cheese and bake in the oven at 400°F until cheese is melted, about 10 minutes.
Let cool before serving.
