1

In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and yeast.

2

Whisk the water, honey, oil, and eggs in another bowl.

3

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir with a spoon until a sticky dough forms.

4

Turn the dough onto a surface and knead it for 15 minutes using the stretch-and-fold technique.

5

Cover the dough in a greased bowl with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, which may take up to an hour.

6

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into six equal pieces.

7

Roll each piece into a long rope and lay three ropes on a baking sheet. Pinch the ends together and braid them loosely. Repeat with the other three ropes on another baking sheet.

8

Cover the braids with a damp cloth and let them rise again until they double in size, which may take another hour.

9

Preheat your oven to 180°C and brush the tops of the braids with some beaten egg.

10

Sprinkle some toppings of your choice over the egg wash.

11

Bake the braids for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

12

Let them cool slightly on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
