Traditionally served during breakfast or as a snack, it reflects the fusion of indigenous, African, and Indian influences in Guyanese cuisine. Today, Fried Bake has found its way into the hearts and kitchens of many Caribbean communities and beyond, celebrated for its simplicity and versatility.

Almond milk reduces calories while adding a nutty taste.
Add 3 cups of all-purpose flour to a bowl.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 tablespoon of sugar to the bowl and mix until combined.
Gradually knead in about 1 1/4 cups of water, adding it a little at a time.
Knead the dough for about 3 to 4 minutes until it is soft and tacky, which develops the gluten for a light fluffy texture.
Cover the dough and let it rest for about 25 minutes.
Pinch off portions of the dough to make equal-sized balls and shape them for a smooth surface.
Cover the dough balls for about 5 minutes while preparing the frying oil.
Add about 4 cups of cooking oil to a frying pot and heat until fairly hot but not too hot to avoid burning.
Dust a surface with flour to prevent sticking and roll out the dough balls to your desired thickness.
Carefully add the rolled dough to the hot oil, frying a few at a time depending on the size of the pot.
Scoop hot oil over the dough to help it puff up and fry evenly on both sides.
Fry until they reach a nice brown color, adjusting the time for desired crispness.
Remove the fried bakes and drain on paper towels.
