Peel 600 g of garlic cloves and set aside.

Slice 1 onion into thin slices (optional) and add to the garlic.

Add salt to taste and black pepper to the mixture.

Pour in approximately half a cup of olive oil, or mix with vegetable oil if desired.

Stir the mixture to combine all the ingredients well.

Ensure there is a layer of olive oil at the bottom of the baking dish.

Transfer the mixture to the oven and bake for about 30 to 40 minutes until the garlic is tender.

Check the garlic by piercing a clove; it should be soft and not firm.

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Transfer the confited garlic and oil into a sterilized jar and store in the refrigerator.
