Measure and add 1 cup of sour cream to the bowl.
Mix all ingredients together until well combined, ensuring the butter is very soft or slightly melted for easier mixing.
Spray an 8x8 baking pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Pour the corn mixture into the prepared baking pan.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes until golden brown.
Optionally, you can add cheese or eggs for a fluffier texture, or sugar for a sweeter flavor.
You can also double the recipe for a 9x13 baking pan, which will take longer to bake.
Alternatively, you can cook the mixture in a 4-quart slow cooker on low for about 4 hours.
