Bulgarian Rice with Tomatoes

1 onion
1/2 tbsp salt
1/2 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp paprika
1 pound ground beef
1 cup sweet peas
2-4 grated/chopped tomatoes (or stewed tomatoes)
4 cups hot water
1 cup rice

Chop onion and toss in large pan with oil, salt, black pepper and paprika.

Warm up for a few minutes on medium heat.

Add beef, tomatoes and peas. Break up the meat into very small pieces with a spoon or whatever tool you have.

Add water, increase heat to high and bring to boil.

Once it is boiling add rice, stir and lower to medium heat.

Once it starts boiling again, lower to low heat to simmer.

Simmer for about 30 minutes while stirring occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

You may have to add about 1/2 cup of water about 20 minutes into the simmering process (but you may not have to).

Once 30 minutes has passed, taste your rice to make sure it is cooked. If not cooked, add 5-15 more minutes.
