1/4 cup buttermilk (for homemade buttermilk)
1 quart milk (for homemade buttermilk)
1/3 cup dry parsley (for ranch mix)
6 teaspoons dried dill (for ranch mix)
4 teaspoons dried chives (for ranch mix)
4 teaspoons onion powder (for ranch mix)
5 teaspoons granulated garlic (for ranch mix)
1 teaspoon sea salt (for ranch mix)
1

Start by discussing the importance of using fresh ingredients instead of store-bought powdered mixes.

2

Prepare a large batch of ranch dressing mix by combining: 1/3 cup dry parsley, 6 teaspoons dried dill, 4 teaspoons dried chives, 4 teaspoons onion powder, 5 teaspoons granulated garlic, and 1 teaspoon sea salt.

3

To make homemade mayonnaise, combine 1 whole egg, 1 teaspoon mustard, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 1/4 cups grape seed oil in a jar.

4

Use an immersion blender to blend the mayonnaise ingredients until thick.

5

To make buttermilk, pour 1/4 cup buttermilk into 1 quart of milk and leave it at room temperature for 24 hours.

6

To assemble the ranch dressing, combine 1/3 cup sour cream, 1/3 cup buttermilk, and 1/3 cup mayonnaise in a bowl.

7

Add 1 tablespoon of the ranch dressing mix and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to the mixture.

8

Optionally, finely chop fresh chives and add them to the dressing for extra flavor.

9

Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

10

Cover the dressing and refrigerate for about 1 hour to allow flavors to meld, though it can be enjoyed immediately.
