Cheese Curds

2 cups fresh cheese curds
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper

In a bowl, soak the cheese curds in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C).

Remove the cheese curds from the buttermilk and let excess liquid drip off.

Dredge the cheese curds in the flour mixture until well coated.

Carefully place the coated cheese curds into the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.

Fry the cheese curds for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
