1 can fava beans
1 small clove garlic
pinch of cumin
splash of water
squeeze of lemon
extra virgin olive oil
chili powder (optional)
finely chopped tomatoes (optional)
parsley (optional)
pickles
cucumbers
fresh flatbreads

Wash the can of fava beans and put them in a small pot.

Bring the fava beans to a boil for about 5 minutes.

Mince the small clove of garlic or chop it finely and squish it with a fork with some salt.

Add a pinch of cumin to the garlic.

Transfer the fava beans to a bowl, including some of the water.

Add a good squeeze of lemon and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil to the fava beans.

Mash some of the beans with a fork, leaving some whole.

If desired, add a sprinkle of chili powder for spice.

Plate the mixture in a traditional terra cotta bowl and drizzle more extra virgin olive oil on top.

Garnish with finely chopped tomatoes or parsley if desired.

Serve with pickles, cucumbers, and fresh flatbreads.
