Rip up stale bread into small pieces.
Steep mixed fruit in hot water with tea bags for a couple of hours.
Add rum to the steeping fruit.
Combine milk with the ripped bread and stir until absorbed, mashing as needed for about 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
Add beef sew it or veg sew it to the mixture and stir in.
Add steeped fruit and some of the steeping liquid to the mixture.
Beat a couple of eggs and mix them into the pudding mixture.
Add golden syrup, sugar, mixed spice, and nutmeg to the mixture and stir well.
Grease a 9 by 13 baking dish and pour the mixture into it without flattening.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 10 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, covering with foil if it browns too quickly.
