Preheat the oven to 350°F and place the skillet in the oven to warm it up.
Add butter to the skillet and then add chocolate chips.
Stir the butter and chocolate chips in the skillet until melted.
Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl to cool down.
Add granulated sugar and brown sugar to the bowl and whisk until combined.
Crack an egg into the mixture and pour in vanilla, whisking until well combined.
Add cocoa powder and flour (with salt) to the mixture and stir until combined.
Optionally, add espresso powder for extra flavor.
Lightly spray the skillet before pouring the batter in.
Bake in the oven for 14 to 18 minutes.
Finish with vanilla custard on top before serving.
