The unique flavor comes from a blend of spices and cooking methods that reflect the island's diverse cultural influences. Jerk cooking is often associated with outdoor gatherings and celebrations, making it a popular choice for barbecues and parties.

Chop 1/2 cup of onions.
Measure 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and add it to the mixing bowl.
Add 2 teaspoons of allspice to the bowl.
Add 2 teaspoons of thyme to the bowl.
Add 2 teaspoons of ground clove to the bowl.
Add 2 teaspoons of salt to the bowl.
Use an immersion blender to blend the mixture into a paste.
Rub the paste all over the chicken thighs or breasts, ensuring even coverage.
Preheat the oven to 450°F.
Place the chicken in the oven and cook for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, switch the oven to broil at 500°F for the last 5 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
