Heat oil in a pot.
Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
Add chopped garlic and sauté for a minute.
Add chicken thighs and brown on all sides.
Stir in the can of tomatoes, tomato paste, green pesto, salt, black pepper, and oregano.
Pour in the cup of water and bring to a simmer.
Cover and cook until chicken is tender.
Add fresh basil at the end before serving.
