The combination of creamy grits and seasoned shrimp reflects the rich culinary heritage of the region, often incorporating local ingredients and flavors.

Start by cooking the grits in 2 cups of chicken broth seasoned with salt and pepper, along with some white sweet kernel corn.
Let the mixture come to a boil, then add the grits while stirring to avoid lumps.
After about 15 minutes, add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and some heavy cream to the grits and mix well.
Add sugar to the grits, stirring to combine, and cover for another 10 to 15 minutes, cooking for a total of about 30 minutes.
Mix in sharp cheddar cheese (both white and yellow) to the grits until creamy.
Drizzle olive oil over the shrimp to coat, then season with lemon pepper, Old Bay, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and kidon seasoning, mixing well.
In a medium-high heat skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and add the seasoned shrimp, cooking for 2 to 3 minutes per side until done.
Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add diced red and green bell peppers and diced onion, cooking for about a minute.
Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds to a minute until fragrant.
Stir in tomato puree and cook until the raw flavor is gone, then add chicken broth and cook for a few more minutes.
Add Creole seasoning and complete seasoning, cooking for a few more minutes, then stir in fresh parsley.
Blend the sauce until smooth, then pour it back into the skillet to heat for about 30 seconds to a minute.
Plate the grits, pour the sauce over them, and top with the shrimp, garnishing with parsley.
