1

Wash basmati rice thoroughly until water is clear, then drain excess liquid and spread it on a plate/tray to dry in sunlight for 2 hours or until completely dried.

2

Grind the dried rice to a coarse powder.

3

Alternatively, wash 1/2 cup basmati rice until water runs clear, soak for 20-30 minutes, then drain and blend with 2 tbsp water for 3-5 seconds to make an instant rice paste.

4

In a pot, add 4 cups of water, pandan leaves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, and sugar, and bring to a boil on medium heat.

5

Once boiling, lower the heat and gradually add the ground rice while stirring frequently. Cook for 12-15 minutes or until rice is cooked.

6

Remove the pandan leaves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon sticks from the mixture.

7

Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk while stirring constantly and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, adjusting sweetness to taste.

8

Add rose water and mix well before turning off the heat.

9

Transfer the mixture to a serving tray and sprinkle with cardamom and cinnamon powder, using about 1/2 tsp of each.

10

Top with nuts of your choice and serve hot or chilled.
