Mix warm milk and sugar in a bowl; add yeast and let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt; create a well in the center.
Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter to the flour; mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-2 hours.
Prepare the filling by mixing ground nuts, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
Spread the nut mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
Roll the dough tightly from one long end to the other; pinch the seams to seal.
Cut the rolled dough in half lengthwise; twist the two halves together to form a braid.
Place the braided dough into a greased loaf pan; cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Brush the top of the dough with egg wash before baking.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
