Each region has its own variations, and Uzbek baklava is known for its generous use of nuts and a hint of cinnamon. Today, this delightful treat is enjoyed not only in Uzbekistan but also in many countries across the globe, showcasing its universal appeal.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a baking dish with melted butter.
Mix sifted flour with baking powder and add butter, egg yolks, yogurt, and cream to form a dough.
Roll out the dough and layer it in the greased baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
Chop walnuts and mix with sugar and raisins (and dried apricots if using).
Spread the nut mixture evenly over the dough layers.
Continue layering dough, brushing each layer with butter, until all dough is used.
Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes with a sharp knife.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, until golden brown.
While baklava bakes, prepare meringue with egg whites and sugar.
Once baklava is done baking, drizzle honey over the top.
Allow to cool completely before serving.
