Balkan Bagels, also known as Bulgur Bagels, originate from the diverse culinary traditions of the Balkan Peninsula. These bagels reflect the region's love for bread and are often enjoyed as a snack or breakfast item. Traditionally, they are made with simple ingredients, showcasing the resourcefulness of local bakers. Today, variations can be found across the Balkans, with different toppings and fillings, making them a beloved treat in many households.

Sift 500 grams of flour into a bowl.
Add 7 grams of yeast, 20 grams of sugar, and 7-8 grams of salt to the flour and mix together.
Add 300 milliliters of water and mix with your hands to form a dough.
Transfer the dough to an oiled container and let it ferment in the fridge for 1-2 days.
Knead the dough again after a day and let it rise in the fridge for another day.
Flour a surface and roll out the dough to about half a centimeter thick.
Cut out pieces using a bowl and a small cup to form bagels with holes in the middle.
Boil water with honey and baking soda.
Boil the bagels for 2-3 minutes until they float and double in size.
Transfer the boiled bagels to a cooling rack to remove excess liquid.
Oil the boiled bagels and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
Bake the bagels at 200 degrees Celsius with the fan on for around 15 minutes.
