Grate 500 grams of potatoes into a bowl.
Soak the grated potatoes in water to reduce starch.
Squeeze out excess moisture from the grated potatoes using hands or a cloth.
Add 1 teaspoon salt to the grated potatoes, adjusting to taste.
Mix in 1 teaspoon black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional).
Add 3 tablespoons of flour and 1 egg to the mixture.
Mix all ingredients until well combined to form a batter.
Heat oil in a pan over medium to low heat.
Once the oil is hot, spoon the batter into the pan to form pancakes.
Cook until golden brown on one side, about 5-6 minutes, then flip to cook the other side.
Remove from the pan and serve hot.
