Today, variations exist globally, with many adding different herbs or spices to suit modern tastes.

Flaxseed meal serves as a binding agent and is vegan.
Grate 600 grams of peeled flowery potatoes.
Wash the grated potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch and drain well.
Squeeze out excess moisture from the potatoes.
Add a pinch of salt to the drained potatoes and stir well, then let sit for around half an hour to draw out more moisture.
After half an hour, dispose of the starch layer that forms at the bottom of the bowl.
Season the dried potatoes with another pinch of salt and a generous dusting of pepper.
Add 50 grams of melted butter to the potatoes and mix well.
Incorporate 50 grams of all-purpose flour into the mixture using your hands to mash it together.
Optionally, refrigerate the mixture for about half an hour to make it easier to form patties.
Preheat a frying pan over medium heat and oil it generously.
Form thin patties from the potato mixture, no thicker than 1 centimeter.
Cook the patties in the preheated pan for around 5 to 7 minutes until deep golden on one side.
Flip the patties and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes until golden on both sides.
