Pour the broccoli into the steamer insert.
Steam the broccoli for about 2 to 3 minutes, checking at 2 minutes for doneness.
Move the broccoli around to ensure even cooking if needed.
Cover and steam for an additional 30 seconds if necessary.
Check that the broccoli is bright green and cooked to desired tenderness.
Pour the broccoli into a bowl, shaking off excess water.
Squeeze juice from half the lemon over the broccoli, catching any seeds with your hand.
Add a couple of big pinches of black pepper to the broccoli.
Add a tiny pinch of salt to enhance flavors.
Toss the broccoli gently to combine all ingredients.
