List ingredients: half beef, half pork (double the amount of beef), onions, celery, green peppers, 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of oil, creole seasoning, black pepper, seasoned salt, garlic powder, minced garlic.
Heat the pot used to brown the meat, keeping the fat in the pot.
Add finely chopped onions, celery, and green peppers to the pot.
Cook until onions are translucent, stirring to avoid browning them.
Season the mixture with a little salt and pepper while cooking.
If onions brown, they can still be used, but avoid burning them.
Add half of the tablespoon of flour to thicken the mixture.
Stir the flour into the meat mixture to bind and thicken it.
Add a little water (from the 1 cup) to the mixture and stir.
Continue cooking until the mixture thickens and looks creamy.
Move on to the pastry preparation, which was not included in the initial ingredient list.
For the pastry, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1.5 teaspoons of salt, and 0.75 teaspoons of baking powder in a bowl.
Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly with a whisk or fork.
Cut in 6 tablespoons of shortening using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles small peas.
Add 1 egg directly into the mixture without beating it first.
Pour in 0.75 cup of whole milk gradually while mixing to form the dough.
