Peel the green plantains and cut them into thick slices.
Soak the plantain slices in a salt water solution.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Fry the plantain slices in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Remove the fried plantains and drain on paper towels.
Flatten each fried plantain slice using a plantain press or the bottom of a plate.
Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again until crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Remove the crispy plantains and drain on paper towels again.
Sprinkle with salt to taste.
