Remove the stems from the string beans by snapping them off.
Wash the string beans well.
Prepare garlic by smashing it with your hand to remove the skin, then slice or dice it.
Add 1/2 cup of water to a pan and cover it, cooking the string beans for roughly 3 minutes.
Turn off the heat and transfer the string beans to a colander.
Wipe the pan dry and let it cool slightly before adding olive oil and garlic to prevent burning.
Add roughly 1/4 cup of regular olive oil to the pan and add the garlic, cooking until lightly golden.
Add the string beans to the pan and coat them with the garlic oil, cooking until they are slightly crunchy.
Add about a teaspoon of kosher salt to taste and adjust as needed.
Finish with a drizzle of good quality extra virgin olive oil before serving.
